The Advocates Fund
The Advocates Fund was created to support the further expansion of Moot Court, Mock Trial and Charleston Law Review competitions and participation funded by those who participated when they were active law students at the Charleston School of Law. Alumni are invited and urged to work with teams of law students in preparation and advisory capacities for competitions. Last spring, our team was the National Tax Moot Court Champion for the seventh year in a row and the Moot Court Board ranked #16 overall in the nation, an incredible accomplishment and something we can help continue to make better.
Keith “KJ” Williams Board Designated Fund
We are honored to create a special fund in collaboration with the Student Bar Association in memory of student Keith “ KJ” Williams who lost a battle this year with cancer in his 3L year at the Law School. He was greatly loved and will be missed among his peers. Both students and their families have donated funds for the SBA defined purpose:
Keith “KJ” Williams represented all that was good at the Charleston School of Law. Encouraging, supportive, devoted, and kind, KJ exemplified these characteristics throughout his life as a student, colleague, and friend. He was a leader amongst his peers for his reliability, intelligence, and unremitting ability to make everyone smile. In addition to being an exemplary student, KJ also was focused on bettering his community; he fostered positive, successful relations by being the first to lend a supportive hand.
Once the Fund has achieved the named scholarship level of $25,000, an annual scholarship will be given to a student who exemplifies KJ’s characteristics and values.
